How Team National rose to the top
Team National is a leading discount membership network marketing company, and theyve been inching toward the $1 billion revenue mark for years now.
Sometimes youve got to spend money to make money, and that can be applied for discounts, too. The paying for discounts model works well, just look at Costco and MWR Life.
So have I been involved with Team National?
This video explains:
All good? Lets continue
Team National was founded in 1997 by Dick Loehr. Loehr is a serial entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word not just another MLM-hopper.
He got his start in an unlikely way: a racecar driver.
He took his auto expertise and used it to become a car dealership mogul, opening up a series of dealerships across Michigan, one of which became known as one of Kalamazoos largest after generating millions for the auto industry.
Once hed mastered car dealerships, he moved on to restaurants. He opened 9 of them in South Florida. When this guy does something, he does it big.
Finally, he moved on to direct sales, and used his experience in varied industries to form partnerships and build a discount membership program. While all his ventures were successful, this one seems to have stuck the most, as hes been at it for 20 years now.
Within just two short years the company had already hit $8 million in sales, and by 2004, they were up to $70 million. In 2015, that number reached a whopping $548 million, putting them over the halfway mark to reaching a coveted billion dollar MLM position.
Their rankings reflect this growth, with their spot on the DSNs Global 100 moving up to 36 in 2016.
On top of an impressive background and insane (and sustainable) growth rates, theyre also surprisingly uncontroversial. Their Glassdoor ratings are at 4.5 out of 5 stars, with 100% of their employees saying they would recommend them to a friend. Thats rare enough for regular companies, but it basically never happens in MLM.
These guys have even partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to advance their discount membership program, so I dont think you have to worry about a government shut down anytime soon.
How much does Team National cost?
You need to have your own company website to qualify for personal commission, which will run you $7/month.
You only need to make 2 sales per year in order to remain qualified for the compensation plan.
Theres almost no information on their website regarding their product, which is a bit of a red flag. I like companies Im getting involved with to be fully transparent from the beginning, but I guess thats a lot to ask in MLM. They want you to hook up with a consultant and get the full sales pitch.
Its basically a savings and discount program. You pay for a membership, and they save you money by offering discounts on all kinds of products and services. Discounts are offered in all kinds of industries, from auto to travel to furniture, even communication services.
Team National offers a standard and a premium membership, depending on how much you want to save. Prices on these memberships arent listed.
According to their website, It is vast in its savings and of course, is never out of style. Saving money is not a fad. Individuals, families and businesses are always looking for ways to save money. Theyve got a point. This is why flashy nutrition MLMs tend to have such short life spans they rely on short-lived fads. These guys have been around for a while, and they dont seem to be going anywhere.
Without any more info, or even a price tag, its really hard to tell whether or not these discount memberships offer reasonable value. If they cant be upfront about the cost and potential savings, I have a hard time believing they do.
Team Nationals compensation plan is a binary plan with two legs, making it an intriguing opportunity for a home based business.
Consultants need to make sure that their right and left legs remain balanced in order to increase their earning potential.
Once youve made two sales, youre considered qualified and can start earning full commission and bonuses. Each standard membership sale nets you 1 point and each premium membership sale nets you 3.
Youre given your own website when you sign on and pay the website fee, and its basically just the Big N Marketplace (their discount portal) with your name attached to it. You direct customers to this site once theyve purchased a membership from you, and each time they make a purchase, you get a commission. Commission on personal sales ranges from 0-35%. Its a huge range, and theres no detailed info given in regards to what an average commission rate looks like. You can probably assume its not great.
The bonuses for recruiting heavily are pretty generous though, if you can get them.
Each time your organization hits 5 points in a pay period on both your right and left leg, you get a $500 bonus. When your organization hits 10 on your left leg and 10 on your right leg, you get a $1,000 bonus. Not bad.
Whenever one of your direct recruits reaches that 10 and 10 point in a pay period, you get a hosting bonus of $1,000. As you can see, if you can build up a successful team, you can really rake in the bonuses.
Then theres, of course, compensation through your own sales. You make these sales through the Big N Marketplace, and to participate, you must have your own company website, which will cost you ($7/month).
Basically the Big N Marketplace is a collection of stores where your customers can buy all sorts of things at a discount. But if they buy it under your domain, you get commission ranging from 0-35%.
Honestly, this company is pretty impressive. I usually think savings and discount MLMs are a waste of time, but theyve managed to do it right. Team National has really made a name for themselves while achieving some pretty impressive growth, and theyre not going anywhere.
Their compensation plan isinteresting. Its pretty vague when it comes to personal sales, but it sounds like youre not making much of anything off those.
The real money-maker here is in recruitment. Their bonuses are pretty generous, but you need to be able to recruit a huge team AND push them to make lots of sales.
If spamming your friends and family until they either join your team or block you is your thing, then go for it. Just dont plan on quitting your job to work from home.
But if you like passive income streams, there are much better opportunities out there.
In other words, you might like our training because it teaches the good life without recruiting your family and friends.
